Abigail at TWO.

Abigail turned the big T-W-O about a month and a half ago, you can see her birthday party here. It's been a busy couple of weeks and I've had this post drafted for a while but I am just now getting around to putting it up. Better late than never, y'all.
Two has been interesting, to put it kindly. I usually go on and on in my 'Abigail updates' about how that certain age is my favorite.... well, lets just get this out of the way.. Two kind of sucks. Abigail woke up on her second birthday with a mouth full of attitude and temper tantrums and hasn't looked back since. Don't get me wrong, she still has her moments. I still look at her in awe that she is my child. I love her more than words would ever be able to express. But two sucks. Anyone who tells you differently is either lying or well.. they're just lying.
But let's move on to the fun stuff!
At her 2 year doctor's appointment, she got to step on the big girl scale (instead of laying down) and she weighed in at a whopping 27 pounds (50% percentile) and measured 35 and 1/2 inches (90th percentile, shocker!). She still has an umbilical hernia, which they will talk about surgery for next year. And she made it to the ear check before she lost her shit and screamed bloody murder for the remainder of the appointment, which is a HUGE improvement from the usual 'scream as soon as I see the scale' past appointments.
Her favorite foods are chicken nuggets, pineapple, applesauce, ketchup, watermelon, scrambled eggs and anything on someone else's plate. Smoothies, mac and cheese and milp (milk) are all up there too.
I have lots of nicknames for her, but some of the more frequent ones are Tootsie Pop, Toots, Popsicle, Beautiful girl, Baby girl and even though everyone else calls her Abi, I usually don't. And Abigail Grace usually comes out when I'm trying to get her attention or yelling at her ;)
She isn't a huge fan of any of her toys. Puzzles are more her jam and we have a ton of those. She loves Play-Doh, flashcards and playing with her pretend makeup, usually while I'm putting mine on.
She knows her ABC's and can count up to 25. She makes us sing 'Happy Birthday' every single night before bedtime. She always choses someone new to sing it to. Tonight was a friend from school :) It seems like she jumped from putting 2 words together to complete sentences overnight. I can have a full on conversation with her and that totally blows my mind. Her manners are pretty on point. She says 'thank you' for everything! 'Please' is still a work in progress to get to her say on her own, if we remind her, she says it every time.
We have been SO lucky in the potty training department. Abigail has been so interested in the potty and we have been really successful so far. I think I blogged about this, but the first time we ever  put her on the potty, she was 20ish months and she sat right down and pooped. WHAT!? We transitioned her to pull-ups at night and during naptime and underwear during the day/at school right before her second birthday. She was still having accidents during the day, but was definitely recognizing when she had to go, which is the important part. She moved into her permanent preschool room earlier this month and her teachers have been so good with her! She doesn't use a pull-up at naptime anymore and has been accident FREE for two days as I'm writing this! I know that's not a huge amount of time, but I am so, so proud of her!
She's still sleeping in her crib. I had every intention of switching her to a full size bed before her birthday, but I'm scared. So, I'm keeping her in her crib until she climbs out of it ;) Speaking of climbing, oh this girl can climb. The other day, I turned my head for one minute and she was climbing the dishwasher... and then the dishwasher popped open and she flew backwards onto the ground. She also does this thing where she face dives onto the floor. I'm talking, stands straight up and face plants. On purpose. And thinks its the funniest thing in the world. I'm permanently stressed out.
Two is tough. There are so many tantrums. So many emotions. So many 'No Mama!!'s. Hitting. Sleep regression. and Timeouts. But it is all so, so worth it! I love this girl with my whole heart!
