Well, this is something I never thought I
would be able to say. Certainly not living in Florida for most of my life. but
you guys, I survived my first earthquake.
It was terrifying & it was traumatic. No, no
it wasn’t. I didn’t even know what happened until hours later. But it happened.
& I’m here to tell you about it. I know, thank god.
Around 4pm yesterday afternoon, I was sitting
at my desk on the 5th floor of my lovely little work building
when I looked down at something on my shirt (probably baby crap) when I noticed
that my body was swaying from side to side. I honestly thought that a. I had
hit my chair on my desk and was shaking from that or b. I was dizzy, which happens
to me quite a bit. The swaying stopped after maybe
30 seconds so I decided to test out the ‘desk chair’ theory. I bumped my chair
on my desk to recreate the swaying & spoiler alert: nothing happened. So I chalked
it up to being dizzy & moved on with my life.
Flash forward to 8pm last night, I put the
babe to bed and cozied up on the couch with my iPad & vodka sleepy
time tea. I checked out the news and saw that there was an unusual earthquake
in Cuba around 4pm that day and that it was felt all the way up to South
Florida. ‘Hmm, that’s weird. Better not mention what I felt today to anyone
else because they will think I am bat shit crazy’ is pretty much what was going
through my head since they didn’t mention anything about Orlando.
Since Billy was working last night, he didn’t
even get to hear about my ridiculous, probably made up in my head story about
the Orlando
Earthquake of ’14. So when we woke up this morning, I bombarded him
with my theories. He gave me the good ole ‘yeah, babe. I’m sure you’re right.
You’re really pretty too.’ & we went on with our day.
Here’s where things start to get really
good. I get to work this morning and tell my dear friend Heather my
story. She thought I was insane and we walked to our 9:30am meeting together.
In our meeting, someone heard me make a joke about ‘surviving an earthquake’
and one by one everyone in the room started saying they felt it! They all
thought they were just dizzy or drunk! Come to find out, people were
actually reporting that they felt it all over Orlando!
Don’t believe me? check this out!
Thank god I survived you guys. Could you
imagine me not being around to tell this riveting story?!
I know I promised to be back with something
spectacular. But this is all I’ve got for today. It’s Friday and my brain is
barley working at half capacity.
I do have an exciting announcement to make though. Starting next week, I will be starting a new series on the blog called 'A day in the life'. I will be documenting a day out of my week in mostly pictures of what a typical day looks like for us. I thought it would be a fun way to spice things up around here. Right now, it is looking like I will be documenting on Tuesdays and posting on Wednesdays. if you have your own blog and would like to join in, I would love to have you! Let me know in the comments if you plan to join. If there is enough interest, I will start a link up!
Have a great
weekend!
